For many home builders and general contractors tasked with home remodeling projects, the first room of the house that homeowners want to plan out is their kitchen area. Homeowners tend to take their kitchens seriously, and believe especially that sprucing up their existing kitchens with a kitchen remodel will add flair and monetary value to their home.  At Creative Stone, we see this first hand on a regular basis, so we would like to give you some ideas on how to remodel the kitchen.

Change out the appliances. Appliances like the stovetop, built-in microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator can look dated after a few years of use. New technology, popular surface appearance trends, and dropping prices can encourage homeowners to change up their appliances. The best looking kitchen remodels reflect a uniform look to the major appliances in the kitchen.

Consider different flooring options. The possibilities for a flooring change in the kitchen are virtually endless. Several kitchen flooring options are more resilient, and easier to clean then some cheaper options. While vinyl or resilient flooring are good options for those on a tighter budget, many homeowners will choose to upgrade to tile or limestone, or hardwood flooring. Cork is another kitchen floor option that is gaining in popularity.

Give the cabinets an upgrade. Sometimes a kitchen remodel can be done just by changing the color of the kitchen cabinets. For a more drastic remodel, change the format of the kitchen cabinets. Switch out tall cabinets for floating kitchen shelves, or change the face of the cabinet doors from solid wood to a frosted glass look.

Don’t forget the countertops and backsplash. A backsplash between the countertops and the base of the cabinets will create a unique look to your kitchen space. With the wide availability of high quality countertop materials like granite and quartz, updating the countertops should be a serious consideration in any kitchen remodeling project. These countertop options are resilient to wear and tear and incredibly easy to clean. If you want to get the most money out of your kitchen remodel, upgrading to granite or quartz countertops is where it’s at. They will last a long time in your kitchen and it is highly unlikely you will need to replace them anytime soon.

At Creative Stone, our team of professionals has had the privilege of being instrumental in turning many clients’ kitchen dreams into a reality. For each client, we take special care in honoring the vision they have and combining it with cabinet and countertop suggestions that they probably didn’t even know were possible. Many come in to see us and immediately let us know that they have their hearts set on granite countertops until we introduce them to the world of quartz or marble countertops. They have a vision in their head of a certain color of cabinetry, until we show them the vast amount of cabinet options that are available to them.

One statement we hear over and over again from homeowners who are looking to renovate their kitchens is “We don’t want our kitchen counters to be cluttered”. Everyone we talk to is looking for ways to cut down on the “stuff” that sits on their countertops. The best way to achieve bare countertops is to find the space for kitchen gadgets in the cabinets. As cabinet experts, we do our part by suggesting and then installing the cabinet space. However, it is the homeowners job to use the cabinet space in the best ways possible to eliminate kitchen clutter.

At Creative Stone, we have some suggestions on how to do that.

First, before you ever place an item in your newly installed kitchen cabinets, go through all of the items that you are planning to place in the cabinets and purge the items that you really do not need or want any longer. Also, when organizing items in your cabinets, it may help to use a certain type of rack or divider. You can pretty much find any type and size of cabinet divider, shelf or rack that you can think of on the market today. When it comes to small items, like spices, a rack inside the cabinet may help you organize better and save you space. Third, organize your small kitchen appliances, and pots and pans according to what you use the most. Keep what you use less frequently in the back of a kitchen cabinet, and everything else to the forefront.

With a little effort you can achieve that bare kitchen countertop space that you are looking for. If you want to renovate your kitchen space by replacing your current cabinets or countertops, then give our Creative Stone professionals in Fayetteville, NC a call today at (910) 491-1225. We would love to help you!
